Our Approach

We feel that many corporate staff “look”, but often don’t “see” what’s behind what they have been sent due to perceived time pressures.

“Looking” and “seeing” are two different things.  We get your staff to “see” how incremental changes in how they work can result in the transformation of both the individual and the teams results. At DPA, we develop the powers of observation in your staff. 

Corporate staff are very proficient at looking but very poor at seeing.

We have a great interest in the way artist’s approach their work. They are relearning how to “see” in order to paint effectively.

Children develop the ability to “see” from a very young age but this priceless faculty slowly degrades to the level of merely being able to “look” at things. This is caused by a number of factors such as the modern environment, the education system and the modes of communication that that are currently utilised.

Some rare people retain the natural ability to “see”, but most of us have it educated out of us. It is only through diligent training, new ideas and pausing that we relearn to see once more.

People who study such things calculate that the average person in an art gallery will spend six seconds in front of each picture, and from our own observations, I am sure that this is true.

Just six seconds.

If we merely “look” at a painting then I am surprised that it will hold our attention for this long, but if we go beyond simply looking and are able to “see”, we might be lost within it forever. This then – the act of seeing – is what DPA is all about.

To reap the rewards of our work, you will need to do more than “look” at what we provide …whether it is a trainer, QRG, e-learning course, fact sheet or handout, you will need to “see” then, and, as we have stated previously, you will realise that “looking” and “seeing” are not the same thing.

Here are some suggested ways of “seeing” when you are being trained instead of being a spectator…it’s about extricating your ability to see what’s depicted in the content being trained or discussed.

This is the picture for the letter W. If you are watchful and wide awake you may well see a witch with a wand and a walking stick somehow attractive to the bird that is clinging to it. There is a whiskered wizard engaged in a literary pursuit, a wombat, a warming pan and an alcoholic beverage of an appropriate color in an appropriate vessel. We depicted 263 words within this work.


This is the same painting at different stages. The lens we work with people on is for staff to see the finished product at the end of our work with a team.  This is what is the art and science of DPA. We teach the GRIT to stay with a change until it’s executed.

ASX Listed Medical Device Company

DPA was commissioned to develop a bespoke Change Management Plan to create a more customer centric organization. The change program was based on identifying points of resistance particularly in the areas of selling and service. Our consultants then coached staff on many surgeons’ visits sales in Asia, Germany and the US. The program focused on a dramatic shift from a product culture to a service culture.

State Government Organization

DPA was tasked with designing and delivering an e -Learning Package related to Incident Management for the Property Advisory Group.

This included understanding the requirements, making recommendations, developing a communication and design approach and delivering the eLearning.

The e-Learning provided the foundation skills for all staff to understand the importance of incident management and what to do in the event of an incident. The solution provided included screen capture, audio narration, assessment questions and the confidence that the quality standard AS/NZS ISO 9001 for Change Management and Performance Standards was followed.

We begin by spending time with your subject matter experts, also known as the people who have the expertise that you need to share. We take that knowledge and create customised training modules that can be accessed on all devices, screens or touchpoints.

Retailer

Staff in this organization needed real time technology as opposed to waiting until a face to face course was available.  The solution was an online knowledge journey and a series of self-paced modules that were highly effective.
